400 Eggers Hall
"The Two Row Wampum Renewal Campaign: Honoring Native Treaties and Protecting the Earth." Andy Mager, project coordinator with the Syracuse Peace Council, will discuss a statewide educational and advocacy campaign organized by the Onondaga Nation and Neighbors of the Onondaga Nation/Syracuse Peace Council to mark the 400th anniversary of the Two Row Wampum Treaty in 2013. This first treaty between the Haudenosaunee (Iroquois) and Europeans outlines a commitment to living in peace and friendship forever, meaning sustainably. The campaign will develop a broad alliance between New Yorkers and the Haudenosaunee to achieve social justice for the Haudenosaunee and environmental justice for all.
